The original rims had some bad reviews, so I ordered some 29er MTB wheels (Alex SUBs on high-flange hubs) to go with the bike. I never used the originals (Jalcos) and just built the bike with the Alex wheels. But I recently switched back to the originals after knocking one of the Alexes out of true and appreciate the weight loss and lower profile in the wind. I just need to learn to keep them true and not treat them like MTB wheels and they should be OK.
Truing is kind of the last frontier of bike maintenance for me. I am getting there now.
