So a couple weeks ago I almost got in a wreck and I did a quick skip stop/powerslide thing, afterwards I hear a ping. By the time I get home I have a couple broken spokes on my hands, no biggie. I go to the bike shop around here that I actually like and get some extra spokes. The mechanic working at the time has a bit of trouble getting my lockring and cog off, they were on good. Fast forward to now I fix the spokes and go to put the cog on, it threads on fine. Next I put the lockring on, not so good. I can only tighten it a few turns before it completley stops. I take it off and notice it looks like the cog had something stuck to it. I wind the cog off and it looks to be maybe a little strip of threading. I get the cog back on and try the lockring again, no dice. The threading looks like it's fine, I might have to examine it later but does it sound like my hub is pretty much screwed? If so do you think maybe the mechanic at the shop could of messed something up when trying to get the cog off?

I hope not, it's a surly fixed/free(unfortunatly) hub and I've always used a good amount of grease when putting the cog/lockring on.

EDIT: Obviously the title is threading for all you smartassi....
