But, the Deep Vs are stronger in the area of the rim that doesn't count: the bottom. (And at a significant cost in weight: ~100g x2) A rim should be strongest on top where you put your tire. In this respect, both the OPs and DVs are equally strong.

My go to rims are always Mavic OPs. And a well-built wheel by a competent wheel builder will be strong regardless of rim.
