I'm lucky to be in an area with so many cyclists most motorists know to watch out. Still, some get pissed if I am taking a lane for safety, and some just aren't paying attention anyway. Even if they all know to watch out for cyclists, some will always get distracted/not be engaged sometimes.
the dude killed here in SoCal by a Sheriff was riding down a very very very common cyclist road where there are usually lots of guys going through. Can never be fullly protected
