I agree no need for pain, no matter how long the commute. Don't you think a less severe riding posture would be more comfortable? What is the real gain for such a contortionist setup?
Your most recent posted photograph looks just like the "misleading" one as far as the height differential between seat and handlebars.
BTW, in the most recent photo the chain appears to be really slack; any particular reason?
