Well, not quite right in my understanding. While the axle length remains the same between two same axle lengths but different shell widths BB units the RH side flange is closer to the RH axle end. So installing a 118x73 Bb unit, compared to a 118x68, resulsts in the crank fitting 2mm closer the the frame. And the LH arn sits 2mm further out.

But we don't know what the OP's installed BB is, or was, yet. Andy.
