If you are a newb to strength training you will probably double your squats in a month or two running Starting Strength. Doing reps of 10 and trying to add 10 lbs every month is not the right way to go about things. Do starting strength and follow it religiously and you'll make big gains fast and then if you get more serious move to 531 when you max out your noob gains
