That must be in the ebay FAQ's somewhere as it is pervasive.

Fresh and in recently manufactured pads do stop better, Campagnolo does still sell them.

For the lack of a cable adjuster I installed a set of Campagnolo Daytona dual pivots on one of my mid 80's bikes. Yes, I have do adapt back to the Vintage Record single pivots when I swap bikes. Much less force required to stop with those.
