I have a set of Velocity A23 rims and use Stans tape. Just one layer and overlap the valve stem. You need to keep the edge of the tape from climbing up the walls when putting it on or it can get in the way of the tire bead. So just lay it in there carefully. However the A23 rims can have some sharp edges around the spoke holes so what I did was take a very small file and filed off the burrs a bit and to make sure the edges were not sharp. It's been a year already and I have had no issues. I like the rims and went with the Off Center rear rim which I like a lot.
