Yes.

As an examples, we have seen a bunch of Novatec hubs being dumped on eBay since early this year. Some are grey market from Chinese OE and same are fake!

The grey market hubs have the cheaper Chinese bearings. We have been contacted by more than one person who has bought these hubs asking why their bearings failed 2 or 3 months after they bought the hubs.

If you want your bearings to last a whilr the cost of really good bearings is not that much if you are buying them from a bearing vendor and not as a speciality item.

See if you can't find Japanese EZO, German F.A.G., SKF, TPI or Enduro bearings. Those are all very good brands.

Also, look at the ABEC rating. ABEC 3 is pretty good with ABEC 5 being the bees knees for bicycle use.
