In my defense, Oakland frightens me a little bit, except for the part over bordering Berserkeley.
My Diablo ride started in Oakland and went through some really beautiful areas. (Oakland hills maybe?)
I know some areas in Oakland are to be avoided. We took BART to the game, the area around the stadium seemed to be an industrial wasteland.
