IMO Gorilla tape is OK, but two layers is pretty thick which can make tire mounting more difficult. It also can leave a nasty mess of adhesive behind. Velox is good and can be reused many times. Of late, I use two layers of Kapton tape which is very thin and tough, comes away cleanly when removed, and is relatively inexpensive. This is similar two what is used for some tubeless tire conversions. 5/8" wide is good for the normal 19mm outside/13mm inside width rims. 3/4" is good for wider road rims. Amazon has it. I also use it to tape the cables to the bars under the bar tape because it's not stretchy like electrical tape.
