He encourages us to include fixed costs (insurance, etc) into each mile and tally 50 cents per mile. He said the marginal cost of a mile is actually about 50 cents. He may be right. So if you must own a car, that's fine, but you should still drive it as little as possible. Don't drive it just because you already have it.
