i loctited my miche cups, so they aren't coming loose. however, the bearings in there crapped out after several months. all gritty and creaky. do a search for miche bb. some people have had bad experiences, others good ones.

i bit the metaphorical bullet and splurged for a phil wood bb. should be receiving it in a couple days. you're right--those, like the miche, have no flanges. but you'll loctite those, too. i should have no bearings probelms with the phil.
