Bottom bracket help (Italian threaded)

Ok I have searched and I am not sure if I found an answer
I just ordered a Miche BB to match up with my Miche cranks which is all well and good but a friend of mine said I might run into some problems because it is Italian threaded and there are no flanges so there is a good chance of it getting loose even if it is cranked down really really good .
Has this happened to anybody here?

I guess I can go with a campy bb but they do not have anything in 107 spindle length.
I thought getting a new bb was going to be easy But it has turned into a pain in the a$$
I also thought about getting a Phil Wood but that also has no flanges.

Bikes: Titus road, Fort CX

whatever - the Miche BB has never been problematic for me. If you need an Italian bb and have Miche cranks, you are stuck with the miche bb. And that is not bad at all.
read here: https://businesscycles.com/tr-refspec.htm#cranks plus this https://businesscycles.com/tr-refspec.htm#b/b
also, for $25-ish, you can't go wrong.

Install it properly.
Next.

i loctited my miche cups, so they aren't coming loose. however, the bearings in there crapped out after several months. all gritty and creaky. do a search for miche bb. some people have had bad experiences, others good ones.

i bit the metaphorical bullet and splurged for a phil wood bb. should be receiving it in a couple days. you're right--those, like the miche, have no flanges. but you'll loctite those, too. i should have no bearings probelms with the phil.

Thanks guys

That is what I figured . I might have my lbs put it in to be on the safe side (my work can be a little sketchy at times)

All threads have their own problems. Just properly install them is the best you can do.

I too was curious about mine when i recieved it, so I got it installed at the LBS. Still because italian threading is righthand threaded on both sides, left cup loosened up just from a couple days riding. Loctited the threads and now its fine.

Did you just use locktite (I am assuming the blue stuff) on one side or both ? And how hard is it to tell if the cups are coming loose? does everything just seize up or does it start to feel a little loose I guess I can just look down to see if the cups are starting to come out ? I am only asking because I do not want to be flying down some hill and have my ride all of a sudden lock up and toss me ( been there do not want to be there again)

Both sides. Its pretty much impossible for it to lock up for a number of reasons. If its loose, it would be like having a loose cup and cone BB spindle. The whole thing will move side to side.
