I concur. I have always used clipless pedals, until recently. I started getting fed up with hauling around an extra pair of shoes, and falling on my a$$ in the produce section when making short runs to the grocery store. Having said that, I still love my clipless pedals and have them on other bikes. I went with the clips/straps on my beater-errand-commuter bike.
