They're called proximity sensors. Yes they do detect the mass of cyclists.

They're not new technology been around of for well over a decade now. As the saying for technology goes, if you didn't know you probably couldn't afford them at the time they were newfangled.

Most cars, aside from econoboxes like a yaris, have them as an option you would pay extra for. Even teslas.
You can even install them after market.

I'm assuming you're trying to imply that the mazda mehcar6 has them standard now?
