I remember a Mercedes Benz commercial from a few years ago that specifically touted this technology in regards to pedestrian / bicycle. But the example MB gave was specifically a pedestrian crossing directly in front of vehicle at 90 degrees - the classic setup of a child running into the street after a ball or similar. That's pretty simple stuff, actually.
There is no indication on how the system would work in the situation of, for example, a right-cross or left-cross where the vehicle is making the bad move in comparison to the other party (cyclist / pedestrian.)
I can't wait for autonomous vehicles.
