The sprocket must overhang it's thread on the hub so the lockring can tighten directly to it, without bottoming out on the hub shell. Some lockrings are made with an overhang built in, but most need the sprocket to come out to meet them.
Add the spacer in back and all will be OK, though 1mm may not be enough.
