I would try a 1mm spacer behind the cog. It's probably threaded on too far for the lock ring to jam against it. I've seen it before.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

+1

The sprocket must overhang it's thread on the hub so the lockring can tighten directly to it, without bottoming out on the hub shell. Some lockrings are made with an overhang built in, but most need the sprocket to come out to meet them.

Add the spacer in back and all will be OK, though 1mm may not be enough.

What if it's the threading?

Why wouldn't it? But in any case, you cross bridges one at a time as you come to them. The easy test is to place a straight edge against the sprocket, and it shouldn't be able to touch the hub. If you know how to adjust a threadless headset, it's the same principle.

What do you mean the threading? If the lockring didn't thread properly, that would be a different issue entirely. You have the wheel not us, so you have to be te eyes and hands. Does the lockring thread on? Is the problem that the lockring doesn't thread on, or that it does, but won't bottom against the sprocket?

BTW- just to be sure we're all on the same page. You are aware that the lockring has a left hand thread, and tightens to the left ---- Aren't you?

No offense was taken. Hopefully it'll be as simple as we expect.
