A good paint job is tough to do (unless you are an experienced painter, in which case you know already) and expensive. Before too long it would pick up more scratches anyway. Since the original paint is "such a sweet design" in your words, why change it? As spoken here in C&V quite often - "It is original only once." It's your bike so do what you wish, but if you like it already how would you improve it?


Same answer, or almost the same. Why? Are they out of true so badly they can't be fixed? Do you want something wider? Or narrower? Are the bearing races shot? You probably won't find anything much lighter than your 20-spoke front wheel. The rear looks perfectly fine. If they are mismatched and that bothers you, then look for wheels but don't expect a real upgrade per se. (FWIW, I've ridden thousands of miles on wheels where the rim labels didn't match and the C&V police haven't caught me yet.)
