I like doing 50-mile trips like once a month....and I do notice that on my Trek DS 8.1 is making my life harder (light pain is a daily thing these days....I am sorting things out, but I am still learning what to do).

Anyway....so what bikes are great for long trips? Why arent hybrids apt for long trips?
1) You answered your own question in your other thread ... because the upright position causes tailbone pain.

2) 50 miles isn't overly long.

3) If you are planning to do lots of long rides, road bicycles are probably a better choice. At the very least, you can make some fit changes to improve the situation.
