Bicycle chain lube is a combination of aliphatic (like motor oil) and aromatic (like actual mineral spirits, not the environmentally friendly substitutes) hydrocarbons.

One $7 quart of mineral spirits plus 1/4 to 1/2 of a $3 quart of 30 weight motor oil will do the job.
