Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

I also went and got a Giro Sutton MIPS today. I had been wearing a Linen driving cap when I ride (a lot more comfortable than riding bareheaded) and decided to get a helmet and see if this one was comfortable enough. I have a Bern Brentwood; however, it is in a different city ( I live in Salt Lake and teach in Kansas).

The bern presses in odd places on my head and I really don't like it. I primarily wear it when it is so cold that I want the extra insulation, yes, I know, it i s setting a bad example for the teacher to not wear a helmet.

Thoughts on the Giro Sutton so far: first, the sizing chart on their website is way off, I went in thinking I would want a large, possibly an extra large. The Medium is the one that fit. Second, it seems comfortable and light; but it definitely holds sweat more than my driving cap does.

Of course I haven't tested the MIPS, and have no intention of doing so. It might just be a gimmick; but my wife was happier with my wearing a helmet and even happier with the idea that it might be safer than a normal helmet. . . Me, I think its a gimmick and sort of agree with the the Helmet.org assessment. However, for ten bucks extra, a gimmick that will never be tested anyways, but makes my wife happier . . . yea, I'll wear that.
