I had surgery April 30 on my ankle (Massioneuve Fracture due to a MTB accident 4/18). I just got the cast off and am now using a walking boot. Doctor says (and unfortunately I believe him) it will be 6 months before I can try to ride a bike again (although I may be able to "spin" sooner). Talk about loss of fitness... just walking into work from the car left me exhausted. So enjoy getting back on the bike sooner than later... I am hoping although I will have lost most of my fitness and will be starting from stage one, it comes back quickly.
