I had achillies reconstructive surgery a little over five years ago. That recovery was a bear. Non weight bearing for six weeks then the boot for another six weeks IIRC. The atrophy in the calf was scary. In fact it's still smaller than the good side. I had no choice but to take it slow but I did make it back. Being of a certain age does not work in your favor when you want to get to your active lifestyle.
I had a second cardiac ablation to correct a ventricular tacycardia last Jan 20, the first one was unsuccessful, and I am just now feeling totally recovered and back to riding as long and as hard as I want. I was blessed that I found a Doctor who could fix me.
Glad to hear your back on the bike. Easier said than done but focus and be grateful for what you can do and not what you can't do.....yet. It will come back
