you have not cleaned off the grease, they might be fine as is.
Hmm. I don't know who to believe now... They used a little sizing tool and threaded my lock nut onto it before telling me the threads were 1mm. Then again they ordered the wrong part, so I don't know. Ha.
I wonder if the lock nut was just sloppy enough that it fit?
