Early 80s Ofmega Hub cones substitute?
I've read a couple of forums, and it seems that either the information is all loosely based in fact or the hubs vary quite a bit.
My front wheel cones are becoming pitted on my Ofmega hubs. Ideally I would just replace the cones since the races are in good shape. Unfortunately I have no idea where to locate the cones I would need. I compared them to a Campy hub set I have and the cone is completely different, not to mention the axle diameter is smaller on the Ofmega.
Advice?

I rode on a pair of the same ofmega hubs on my touring bike from SFO to Atlanta. A few months later I found out that the Italian grease that came in those hubs turned into a crayon like muck, and mine were close to toast. The axle thread in the rear is likely the same 10 x 26 threads per inch that Campagnolo and Joy tech has traditionally used. Believe it or not, one inexpensive solution is to replace with Joy Tech, they use the 10 x 26 tpi, or if not, their whole axlesets tend to inexpensive. The rear ones are engineered for 1/4 inch bearings, you should be concerned with o.d., as far as cone/ dustcap clearance.
I cannot tell you much about the front one, but it might be possible to look up on line Sheldon Brown possibly.

I've been seeking out some cones... waited on a LBS special order but it wasn't right.
They told me what I need, but couldn't find anything on the Wheels Mfg. site.
Need:
9mm axle, 12.5mm overall length 16.9mm cone diameter, thread pitch is 1mm
Found:
Wheels Manufacturing Cone CN-R040
Would these work? They're not that close, but the closet I've found. And they have a long taper like mine.
Mine are in the first post^

Or perhaps these? A bit closer measurement. How much wiggle room do I have?

Ofmega is Italian,
If Using Italian thread axle like Campag, it is 26 tpI, ... its Shimano-Japan using 1 tpmm
but if you find the Assembly 2 cones & all the axle parts in a package deal , try it.
Ref: Sutherlands
you have not cleaned off the grease, they might be fine as is.

If you have a Campy-threaded axle, I would replace the entire axle/cone/locknut assembly as a whole. An older shop should be able to help here. It could be faster and cheaper to scavenge this from a wheel discarded due to a rim impact.

I wonder if the lock nut was just sloppy enough that it fit?
