my "gizmo" thing has a stop on the outside, the housing is only outside the frame. The cables inside the frame are bare. Ive never seen a setup that has the housing inside the frame.

My bare cable exits the downtube just before the bottom bracket and then feeds through the BB cable guide, then back into the chainstay almost immediately. Your cable guide is probably supposed to be used similarly.
