I have the old WTB offroad drops on my Quickbeam. I love them:
The idea behind them is that if you do a lot of offroad, you want to get them up really high, so your hands would be at the same level in the drops as they would be on a flat or riser bar. This reduces the OTB feeling over logs and steep drops, but usually means you have to have a freaky tall stem, which is not aesthetically pleasing for some. I don't mind it. I usually ride about 90% in the drops, 5% on the hoods (weird position, but usable) and 5% on the tops. I've felt a tingle in my hands once in a while on longer rides (50+ miles), but I use unpadded gloves and shellaced cloth tape, so YMMV.
MC likes the Midge better than the WTB, due to the shallower drops. I don't yet have a set to play with.
