if so, how do you like them? i do a fair amount of offroad/rough riding, and these appeal to me, but i'd like to hear if anyone has any comments to make.
how are they on long...LONG rides?

I have those same bars on my geared commuter (a touring set up). When I first got them, I put them on my cyclocross bike but now am running a straight bar. I felt kind of limited with hand position. Being on the hoods in bumpy terrain is not very reliable as they are at an akward angle. The drops are really nice though...

The ones I have are the WTB Dirt Drops, but they stopped making them. There is a set on ebay (although they are 25.4 dia clamp, not the standard 26.0 road clamp size)

Also, webcyclery has both midge bars and mungo bars:

I have the old WTB offroad drops on my Quickbeam. I love them:

The idea behind them is that if you do a lot of offroad, you want to get them up really high, so your hands would be at the same level in the drops as they would be on a flat or riser bar. This reduces the OTB feeling over logs and steep drops, but usually means you have to have a freaky tall stem, which is not aesthetically pleasing for some. I don't mind it. I usually ride about 90% in the drops, 5% on the hoods (weird position, but usable) and 5% on the tops. I've felt a tingle in my hands once in a while on longer rides (50+ miles), but I use unpadded gloves and shellaced cloth tape, so YMMV.
MC likes the Midge better than the WTB, due to the shallower drops. I don't yet have a set to play with.

great replies, great pictures. thanks everyone. still curious to know if anyone has done regular rides of 60+ miles on either bar, and how it went for them.
i'm guessing that the ideal stem length for these would be the same as for regular drops?
