For clipless shoes on a fixed gear, do you prefer shoes with a stiffer sole?

I'm shopping for clipless shoes that are primarily going to be used for a fixed gear. In the past, I always bought mountain bike shoes only because I used them on both my mountain and road bike...I also wanted a shoe that I could walk around in the city so having a recessed cleat was important.

This next pair is strictly for my fixed gear bike and will rarely get any use out of the saddle...so I'm buying a road specific shoe with a SPD-SL/Look style cleat.

For those that have used multiple styles of shoes (mountain, road, a more flexible sole vs stiff carbon sole), what did you prefer for fixed gear? Again, this isn't a shoe I need to walk around in.

I'm leaning towards a stiffer shoe since I figure it will help in back peddling/pressure to aid in braking.
