I used a Nomad 7 GoalZero for my trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. It kept my phone charged enough to use day after day, and blog in the evening. I used Airplane mode while sleeping. Always be cautious about areas where there is no signal, as the phone will look for a signal and drain your battery.
Goal Zero has some nice batteries which have pass-through charging which I'm considering buying. Has enough juice to charge phone and GPS, albeit one at a time.
The bike I'm getting, I'm adding a Sinewave Reactor with B&M front and rear lights. I am making sure the lights have off switches so I can push all the current to the UBS when needed, and then on when I need lights and everything is charged. Since I don't have it yet, I'll have to see how much of a battery I can charge, specially with pass-through charging. My guess is that it might keep things topped off, but not hold
Anyone have mathematical formula for speed, and mA and how long it would take to charge a battery per 1000mAh? If I'm getting 500mA out, would that take 2 hours to charge a battery rated at 1000mAh, or am I guessing out my bum?
I'm finding it hard to find how much juice B&M lights suck up. You'd think they'd have those specs somewhere, but I can't find them.
