Yeah I know, it's all timing. 21 years ago I moved into a "bohemian" neighborhood, it gentrified but my landlord has kept the rent *way* under market. By the time I could afford to buy, my housing expense would have tripled if I bought the same size in the same neighborhood. Instead I've been putting it into the stock market which has played out pretty well.
It's all moot anyways, New Orleans is going to be underwater by the end of the century, maybe within my lifetime.
