My dad was a Class A mechanic with decades of experience. Sometimes he'd fix a neighbour's car at home. One a bunch of then were having a beer afterr working on a car (dad would not drink whilst working on a car) and they got to discussing the most important part of a car. Many of the guys said it was the brakes. Dad said it was tires then brakes. His pouint was that if the tires didn't grip the road when the brakes were applied then the brakes weren't the most important thing. A lot of those guys then went a got better tires.

Cheers
