I read an interesting story about the whole Alien prequels he is doing. He obviously had the chance to make Aliens before James Cameron but he was above doing sequels at that point in his career. Looking back he wishes he did sequels at the time. Although I personally think the first 4 all turned out good and I like the different takes on the franchise by different directors. Cameron went with full on 80s action movie. Then you have Fincher doing what he did with Alien 3 which was universally hated by fans because they were expecting another action movie and he gave them a prison planet with no weapons but in retrospect it's a great movie. And then the Jeunet/Joss Whedon Resurrection movie which I also think didn't get the respect it deserves. But I am interested to see where Ridley takes the series now
I like the original Alien best
because it's not just another action movie... but I still think Alien3 is trash. I agree with you on Resurrection, though.
