What do you want to know? When I had the Spin made I was working on the details of a tour across the USA with my sisters (17 at the time, twins) so I wrote sponsorship letters to 75-100 companies around Germany. One of which was Advanced Sports International, Fuji's parent company. They're based in Philadelphia but have a regional office in Mutlangen, Germany. Anyway they replied wanting a meeting so the three of us went up and met with them. We bought our mom (I was 19 and we wanted someone older to be with us) and worked out the details. We all agreed to be decked out with three of their brands; me with Fuji, one twin with Kestrel and the other twin with Breezer. (Kestrel and Breezer are also owned by ASI). We took photos of ourselves during the tour and ASI used those in advertising as part of the deal. We wrote testimonials on their brands (even though none of us had even ridden any of their bikes; I didn't buy my Fuji until the next year).
They gave use t-shirts and then decked out our helmets and panniers (only one of the twins bikes had panniers; they took turns riding it) and then a few stickers on the frame of the bike.
I've had sponsors in one way or another on all of my tours. From local ones to national.
For my 2016 trip I've found a few sponsors. The biggest being Kroger. Sure I sent over 100 sponsorship letters and heard back from about 15 of them (a few were nice enough to write back to tell me "no thanks" and not leave me hanging.)
If anyone is interested in writing sponsorship letters for a tour I'm happy to help you out. It's time consuming and don't be surprised with the little interest you get. I'm doing my ride for one of the biggest and well respected cancer research companies in the country and I'm happy to have found a few companies to help support me along the way but as you can see a majority of them don't even reply.
