Are you talking about a freewheel hub or a cassette hub?

I respaced an old steel touring bike from 120 mm to 135 mm to convert from a 5 speed freewheel to a modern 8 speed cassette hub a couple years ago. I haven't had a lick of trouble since. But I did have to replace the hub.
