I won a pair of Brooks Ergon GP1 grips and went to put them on my FX 7.5 (I believe a 2011). I eventually got the originals off, but realized I was in trouble when the new grips slid on with almost no resistance. These have a screw on the end, but there was no difference with that fully tightened. The grips spin fairly easily so I know they'd move while riding.

Does anyone have any good suggestions? I know of the hairspray trick but wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else to try first (do the brake levers need to be moved inward? etc).
