Thanks for the info. It's interesting - I have been eyeing up the Trek 2300 as well. So your info is quite good and addresses my original question. At this point I think what I need to do is stick with the 7500 for a while and just keep trying to push my limits. At some time I may wish to get a pure road bike and I'm glad to hear good things about the 2300.
