Yesterday I drove into Atlanta and took my daughter out for dinner as a break from studying for finals.
We went to this cool old industrial warehouse/manufacturing building which had been redone with shops and offices (saw quite a few tech startups) on the lower levels and apartments on the top floors.
Ponce City Market. It has the old industrial hardwood floors, exposed steel beams, some of the machinery still there - really cool place. It's great that they aren't destroying these old places and throwing the parts in the landfill.
Pretty pricey shops but they have all kinds of ethnic restaurants - Indian, Thai, Etc. We ate Moroccan food. Lamb, spicy roasted veggies, some kind of really great pickles, Tahina, Hummus and the best pita bread ever.
Marrakesh Mediterranean Market.
Definitely recommend Ponce City Market for an afternoon if anyone finds themselves in ATL.
