I started riding mid 2014 and bought an Émonda with a 40cm bar. I stopped riding for a whole year then started again last January. 2 months ago, I finally replaced it with the SES Aero bar - 40cm at the drop, 35cm at the hood, really narrow. So far, no discomfort. I feel like it should've been the right size for me from the beginning. For what it's worth, I'm short and ride a 50cm.
