You mentioned Germany, it is interesting that
they are held out as an example of a country with extremely strong e-bike sales. As was said above, cycling is good. I think more people cycling, instead of driving, is a net good, both for the individuals and for other cyclists. I do not see it is an elite sport. It is both transportation and pleasure. The biggest issue I would see with e-bike touring is the range issue.
