The downsides are.
1. It's $1350
2. It's singlespeed
3. Adding gears can be done, but at a cost. Probably close to $1500 by the time you are done adding cassette, derailleur shifter, cables etc

I would be very clear about how you add gears. As pictured it doesn't have a hanger for a rear derailluer, so you'd need to get an adapter from Specialized.
