I think there is a cycling version and it's called Strava.
I was pushing a bit on a segment the other day and realized I'm essentially making myself look foolish to strangers just to steal some arbitrarily defined "segment" that's only relevant to other people who use the same app. Superficially, it's not so different than Pokemon.
