may i ask why you want to upgrade to a carbon frame?
i had a discussion with my LBS and i was looking for a hybrid. based on what i was looking for, i wanted a flatbar handle and use around town with the option of riding with my road buddies @ possibly 20 miles max once in a blue moon. Also with the option of attaching a child seat to ride along with my daughter.
my budget was to go up to $1500-1600 because i didn't know exactly what bikes were going for. we were talking about carbon frame and carbon fork which would put me in that $1500 range but he said he couldn't justify me spending that much on what i wanted to do with it. he recommend me to go with the aluminum frame and carbon fork, so i ended up getting the giant fastroad slr 1 2016 which was $990. he said the carbon frame will be more forgiving in vibration in the longer bike rides (over 20 milers) but since i have a bigger tire, it should be pretty comfortable.
sorry to hijack your thread, just curious in your opinion since my LBS could have sold me the carbon frame and fork but didn't.
