A 7 will probably work as well and give you an extra gear.
Depending on OLD -- good thing to check. If you have a ultra-6, as I do on the Peugeot, it won't take a 7-speed. If you have a standard 6, you may be able to squeeze a 7, or you may need another 2mm on the drive side (128mm OLD officially).
