Nice bike. I had a similar dent on a '99 Trek 2500 I used to ride after dropping a wrench on it, never caused any problems but you may want to get a shop to look at it to be sure.

That bar tape and those bars, though... Ugh. It'd look nice with some glossy black tape and modern compact drops rather than the ergo bendy stuff that puts the levers lower than the tops.
