Here's a personal experience from the Ripleys Believe It or Not files:

Got my CTP greenslip about 3 months after a minor at fault bingle and as expected the price had gone up (by about 25% ). I just happened to be near an NRMA office out shopping one day, so I dropped in to pay it. I nearly fell out of my tree when the nice lady behind the counter said "Oh, you had a little accident recently. Not much damage was there? Let me fix that for you." I hadn't said a word about the bingle (in case they hiked the price up some more). She just took it upon herself to set the price back to what it had been!!!!!

And to think I could have used one of their other 'Convenient payment methods' and got taken to the cleaners
