Trek 400 – Upgrading Components

Currently visiting the home country of Campagnolo, so I figured I'd look for some used campy gear over here.

I have a 1985ish Trek 400. Currently has three chainrings up front with 6 or 7 gears in the back. Shimano components are on it now. Today I found a second generation Super Record Rear Derailleur that looked great, but didn't have shift levers included. I also found a nuovo record rear derailleur with shift levers included for less.

Also was thinking to switching to a double chainring setup in the front as opposed to a triple. I found a Xerox (by Campagnolo) double crankset. I'll have to check for a front derailleur.

Any pros and cons? Will they work on my bike? Worth the upgrade?

Cheers
